Masonicare at Ashlar Village recently received CALA’s second Purple Flag for Dementia Care™ distinction, and Sandy Potter and Michael Ell of Masonicare’s “Ageless Living TV,” recently sat down for a video interview with Christopher Carter, President of CALA, to discuss the growing Purple Flag program.
Carter was joined in the episode by Betty Brennan, and CALA Board Member and Purple Flag Governance Committee Chair, and Angela Christie, Director of Operations and Healthcare for Masonicare at Ashlar Village.
Purple Flag for Dementia Care™ is an accreditation program developed to recognize excellence and drive continuous improvement in the quality of services delivered by providers and their staffs who care for individuals living with Alzheimer’s Disease and other dementias. Purple Flag for Dementia Care™ was developed in collaboration between the Institute for Senior Living Education (ISLE), the Connecticut Assisted Living Association (CALA) and the Alzheimer’s Association Connecticut Chapter in an advisory capacity. Upon accreditation, providers receive the distinctive purple flag as a symbol that communicates to the general public and consumers their commitment to leadership in the area of memory care.
Last month, CALA announced the launch of the Purple Flag for Dementia Care™ website where people can go to learn more about the accreditation and Purple Flag mission. With the growth of the accreditation, CALA expects that Purple Flag will grow in and outside the state of Connecticut.
