Purple Flag for Dementia CareTM is a program developed to enhance the quality of services provided to individuals living with Alzheimer’s Disease and other dementias in Assisted Living communities, Long-Term Care Facilities, Home Care Agencies, Hospices and other settings.  It is a collaboration between the Institute for Senior Living Education (ISLE), the Connecticut Assisted Living Association (CALA) and the Alzheimer’s Association Connecticut Chapter.

The goal of the Purple Flag for Dementia CareTM program is to achieve a higher quality of life for persons with dementia and shall be accomplished through:

  • Enhanced staff education
  • Demonstration of a commitment to best practices
  • Self-attestation to statements of quality as recommended by the 2018 Alzheimer’s Association Dementia Care Practice Recommendations.

Recognition and accreditation with the Purple Flag for Dementia CareTM program shall qualify a provider for participation with a highly visible branding campaign informing consumers and related constituencies of the provider’s commitment to best practices.

ISLE began accepting the first applications for participation with the Purple Flag for Dementia CareTM program in the Summer of 2019.
